HOUSTON
FROM CREATION TO
“LOVE, PEACE, AND GREAT FILM”
OUR WORK
For this location, we wanted to feature all things Texas. When the Rooftop team told us they wanted to fill the back of an old pickup truck with flowers, we immediately thought big cacti and wild flowers. Using some fun-colored metal cacti that we sourced from a local flower shop, we decked it out with an explosion of color for people to take their photos with. I painted the entire truck in a geometric block pattern that featured the Texas state outline and gave the space an added pop of color. When you first walk in, you see a custom mural that I designed and painted in color blocked pattern that we incorporated throughout the Houston rooftop. We created a custom flower-filled sign with floating dicut letters that say “Greetings from Rooftop Cinema Club” which we flanked with a hand-painted HOUSTON sign inspired by classic ‘50s style postcard lettering. On either side of the sign, we featured a collection of cacti and pots of wildflowers to give guests an exciting entrance moment that has more depth than just a flat mural. Moving on towards the bar, we took the same geometric pattern and applied it to the back of the bar kiosk wall, removing a hodgepodge of oddly placed movie scenes and covering the existing paint job. We also created a gorgeous wildflower moment for all along the kiosk roof that tied it all together. This was such a fun project!
